Sand Castles

Hiya all,

We are still enjoying our holiday on the beach even if the stories that have been published recently are a little out of order but that is technology for you. Sometimes what goes on in cyber world is just completely beyond me!

It is very different being away on the beach. We went to have another look at the rock pool today and did some fishing. My hand has now recovered from the prickly encounter with those bushes. I doubt that we will be visiting that path again anytime soon, well, I can’t vouch for the other two but I certainly won’t be and for a frog, fishing is always a good remedy for all sorts of things including prickly hand encounters!

Well, as the sun started to set over the sea and the tide started to come in over the rocks, I picked up Herring Harry’a bucket and hopped back to the beach. For some reason, I filled the bucket with sand, tipped it over and, to my surprise, I had a castle. So I did this again and again, and before I knew where I was, I had created a magnificent sand castle with lots of towers. Not all the turrets worked though. Some of the sand tumbled back on the beach once it was out of the bucket.

Surprisingly pleased with my creation, I searched around on the beach and found enough shells of different sizes to put on the castle as Windows. Some long strands of seaweed became the doors and the portcullis and some short stubby bits of seaweed became the flags on the top of each of the turrets. Herring Gull Harry and Teacup were still busy fishing.

Once I had finished my creation, I sat back to admire it – until a seagull, flying low and searching for food, put his legs out to land right on my castle knocking half of it into the sea. I gave the seagull a filthy look but he didn’t care.  He just stared at me and then moved off in the search of food on the beach.

Oh well, I guess my sand castle wouldn’t have survived once the tide came in but still, it would have been nice to be able to admire my sand castle for a little longer, surely!

Until next time,

E
