On a windy morning when the clouds were busy racing each other across the sky; at the harbour there was great activity taking place. Stalls had been set up on the quay and frogs could be seen hurrying from one stall to the next buying fish, flies, mosquitos, worms and, of course, Easter eggs.
At the entrance, there was a large, multi-coloured poster announcing that “Uncle Wilf’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt” would be happening on Easter Sunday in Bluebell Meadow and there would be a competition to see who had made the best Easter bonnet.
Amongst the frogs who had come to the market that morning, was a small green figure holding lots of brightly coloured purchases in his arms. As we join Errol, his face was a picture of concentration as he looked at the Easter eggs.
“Oh what to get Herring Gull Harry, what to get Herring Gull Harry,” he muttered to himself.
The stall holder was keeping a beady eye on Errol as he looked at the eggs as he was convinced that Errol was up to no good. He thought to himself that this one must mad, the way he was muttering to himself. Eventually, Errol decided to buy a tin of chocolate fish for Herring Gull Harry.
As Errol walked away from the chocolate stall, he looked up at the clock. He had thought of popping in to see Teacup as he had not seen her for a few days but then he decided that it was probably better that he went home and finished his Easter bonnet for the competition tomorrow.
He was very proud of his colourful bonnet which consisted of a straw hat covered in lots and lots of tiny Easter eggs. Definitely no one would have thought of that idea, he thought to himself. He had half-covered the hat in eggs so he had the other half of the hat to finish. There was just one problem though, the eggs were just too tempting and rather a lot of them had ended up being eaten so he had to keep stopping and buying more.
To be continued ….
