Howdy, howdy, howdy all,
Can you believe, froglettes, Spring is almost here!
Last Saturday, Herring Gull Harry and I took part in a fancy dress street party. The procession of flaming torches that went down to the harbour was great and crowds of people came out to see us go marching by. Magnus had organised a drum band for all of us to march too. I was really enjoying it until, that is, a rat appeared from nowhere, came over to where I was and seemed to take rather an interest in my peppermint walking cane. I tried to whack it away with the walking cane but it just encouraged the cheeky blighter who just jumped up and chewed a bite off each time I took a swipe at him and then another bite and then another bite until half of my cane had disappeared into his flea-ridden tummy.
I tried swapping places in the procession too in the hope of escaping this rat but it still followed me and then, whenever I looked at it, it made rather horrible faces at me too revealing nasty, broken yellow teeth.
Then, as we came into the harbour, it looked as though it was going to jump at me and I guess eat the rest of my peppermint cane so I did the only thing I could. I turned to the right, showed to the crowd to make way and and jumped with my torch and my cane into the River Swirle and hoped that the rat did not follow me. I have no idea what happed to the rat but I am relieved to say, froglets, that it vanished but my super-duper outfit was ruined.
The fancy dress party was good but somehow not quite the same without my peppermint cane and bright purple top hat, both of which got lost in the river. Herring Gull Harry won the prize for the best dressed outfit, he went as Admiral Snapfish (who is a legend) and I bet he did not have rats showing an interest in him! Needless to say, Herring Gull Harry found the whole episode with the rat very funny and now thinks I am some kind of rat magnet! The things that amuse some frogs – I don’t know. He is probably at home right now thinking up funny rat jokes.
Anyway, that is all for now, froglettes.
