A Good Deed & the Litter Bugs

Morning all,

Yesterday was one of those changeable, wet days where one minute the sky is blue and the next it is full of grey clouds racing each other across the sky.

I decided it was a good day to go for a spot of fishing on the river so off I went and I took some worm sandwiches with me just in case I got a little peckish during the day.  Can’t fish on an empty tummy, you know!

All was fine during the morning and I caught a few fish but then I did get start to get hungry so I got out my worm sandwiches.  Just as I was about to take a mouthful I could hear someone humming coming from around the bend in the river so I looked to see who it was and who should turn up but Teacup.  Right out of the blue.

One of her hobbies is collecting the litter that frogs leave behind on the river bank and which can kill animals should they mistakenly eat it thinking that it is food.

I watched her making her way along the river bank collecting the litter in her bucket and felt rather guilty sitting there about to eat my worm sandwiches.  So, froglettes, I decided to help her and put my sandwich down on the grass and hopped over to help search for litter amongst the reeds and put anything I found into her bucket.  A sudden rain shower came down but we continued quite happily and then Teacup went on her way further down the river bank still humming her song.

I returned to eat my sandwich, picked it up to take a mouthful and just as I was about to take a bite, half of it fell out of my hands and back onto the grass at my feet.  My sandwich had turned into a very soggy sandwich during the rain storm but I still ate it only it was now not as tasty as I would have wanted it to be.  A shame as  it could have been one of the highlights of my day.

Still, I guess clearing up litter and the welfare of the river animals is more important than the state of my tummy!

Oh well, ’till next time, froglettes,

E
