Howdy All,

Last Tuesday, frogettes, I had my portrait painted by Uncle Wilf.  He has been wanting to do this for a long time and, finally, on a hot sunny day, I found myself sitting on a chair for what seemed like forever in his studio while he painted away.  Uncle Wilf is a very talented artist so I thought it would only take him a couple of hours to do the painting but no, on and on it went, “hold your head this way, Errol,” “no, don’t look keep looking out of the window” and how many times was I told to, “stop fidgeting!”

The thing is, forgettes, it wasn’t my fault.  The window was very tempting, it is true, and I admit that but it was the fact that we had a visitor – a bumble bee.  Uncle Wilf seemed to be totally unaware of this fact but I wasn’t.  He flew in through the open window and then flew around the room in very wonky circles settling every so often on an object and then flying off again.

I couldn’t help but watch him.  A couple of times he flew near me and then it seemed to me that he took an interest in my nose.  Maybe I was just bored of sitting for so long, who knows, but I wasn’t mistaken, the bumble bee definitely liked my nose.  Round and around he flew and, of course, I had to follow him and got very cross-eyed as a result but Uncle Wilf got annoyed and told me more than once to, “stop moving my head.”  Easy to say when you  haven’t got an insect buzzing around you!

Anyway, just as the bumble bee headed off towards the open window and I thought that I was safe, he suddenly turned back and landed on my nose, yes froglettes, there he was on my nose.  Honestly, I fell off my perch in surprise, the bumble bee flew off furious that his latest landing post had suddenly vanished and Uncle Wilf yelled, “ERROL, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?”

You see, what I had forgotten was that next to the chair there was a table with paints and paint brushes on and I fell straight into this.  My back was masterpiece of its own in all different colours – a multi-coloured rainbow!  I found it funny but Uncle Wilf was NOT amused by the episode.

Somehow, I don’t think I will be asked to sit for a portrait again!
