Hello All,
Yesterday was Herring Gull Harry’s birthday and he had a big party to celebrate. Lots of friends came and there were games, a mini-sports competition as well food and drink for everyone to enjoy.
After singing ‘happy birthday’, four of us frogs played a game of hide and seek. When it came to my turn to hide, I decided to hide outside Herring Gull Harry’s front door where he had put some big blue and green striped balloons (to let everyone knew where his party was being held).
It felt to me as though I hid behind the balloons for ages and so I began to fidget with them (as you do) and then, without warning, two of them became untied to the bush. I held on to them so they would not fly away only I wasn’t big enough and the next thing I knew I was floating off the ground still holding onto the balloon’s ribbons.
Rather alarmed by my predicament, I shouted for Herring Gull Harry but he couldn’t hear me about the noise of his party so I continued to fly upwards, holding onto these two balloons.
These balloons sailed over the streets and the houses, we floated over Bluebell meadow and across the river. I saw frogs playing in the street, frogs fishing, frogs busy gardening and two frogs seemed to be having quite an argument on the riverbank. I wonder what they were arguing about!
The balloons floated over a wood and I did find myself wondering if I had been missed at Herring Gull Harry’s party but on continued the balloons across two fields and a farm.
My arms were now starting to get tired from holding onto the ribbons all this time and I started to look down below to see if there was somewhere I could land. On the balloons went along a dusty track and then we flew over a hill and then another one. This second one had a tower on it so I decided on the spur of the moment to take a deep breath and – let go of the balloon’s ribbons.
I fell through the air and landed on a bed of moss at the top of the tower. Back on my feet again, I had a look around me. The tower had seen better days but there were enough stairs that I could hop back down to the ground and start my long journey back home.
All in all, it was quite an adventure for one day, froglettes. Meanwhile, at Herring Gull Harry’s party, I do wonder if they are still playing hide and seek and looking for me or have they realised that two of the balloons have gone missing as well as me!
‘Till next time.
E
