Morning all,
What a day I have had. It all started off so perfectly when Herring Gull Harry and I were going to meet at the harbour at lunchtime to go for a spot of fishing on the river.
I put my fishing bag by the front door and went to find my fishing rod in the cupboard only to find that it was not there. I blinked and looked again but, no, the fishing rod definitely wasn’t there. So I quickly hopped around my kitchen and sitting room searching for it but it was nowhere to be seen.
I started to panic and sat down at the kitchen table to think when I had last used it. I think it was on Sunday morning when I went to do some fishing on a riverbank close to home. I looked at my clock and just had enough time to go back down to the riverbank and look and then return home and meet Herring Gull Harry at the harbour.
So I hopped as fast as I could to the riverbank and who should I bump into but Teacup. She was busy picking some snowdrops by the trees to take home.
“Hello, Errol,” she said.
“Hi, Teacup,” I replied.
“What you doing here?”
“Um, you haven’t seen a fishing rod in your travels, have you, Teacup?”
I looked around where I had been fishing but there was no sign of it. My heart sank at the thought of my fishing trip with Herring Gull Harry not happening. After all, how could I go fishing without a fishing rod? It’s my favourite hobby.
I was so busy looking that I missed Teacup going back to the tree and picking up an object. It was not until she was standing in front of me, that I looked up and I hopped in celebration when I saw her holding my fishing rod.
“Where was it?” I said as she gave my fishing rod back to me.
“I found it over there and picked it up and brought it over here where I was picking snowdrops,” she replied with a big grin on her face pointing over to the spot when I had been fishing.
I hugged her. “Thank you so much, Teacup. You don’t know what this means to me. I thought I had lost it and would not be able to go fishing with Herring Gull Harry after lunch.”
“Well, you had better go otherwise you will be late,” said Teacup.
And so I hopped off to have a frogtastic time fishing with Herring Gull Harry.
