Morning one and all,
Oh, I so do love the month of December – the build up to Christmas and all those lovely wrapped Christmas presents lying under the tree on the big day itself just waiting to be opened by your’s truly!
But, for your’s truly, the build up starts on 1st December with opening the first door on my advent calendar. It is the tradition that my best friend, Herring Gull Harry, and I each give one another an advent calendar and this year I got one from him with the picture of a nativity scene but, on the front of the nativity scene, he has painted a green frog in a Father Christmas hat holding a megaphone.
It is very good and all that but I can’t help thinking that he might be trying to tell me something like when I helped out with the nativity play two years ago! There are those who were there who that said what happened was chaos but it was not my fault that the church cat found a mouse and chased it across the stage in the middle of the performance. I didn’t even know the church had a cat until its appearance on the stage. It was just very funny and brought the house down but it was not part of the story of the nativity that we had rehearsed.
Anyway, I am enjoying opening each of the doors of my calendar to see their secrets although today’s one was an alarm clock. Not very Christmassy if you ask me and as alarm clocks are not my favourite things, especially first thing in the morning, I am not entirely sure that I need reminding of their existence on an advent calendar – or underneath the Christmas tree!
Oh well, I am going to sign off now, froglets, and go to sleep so that tomorrow comes quicker and I can open the next door – I hope tomorrow’s picture is something I like a little better!
Bye,
E
