Evening all,

Well, Herring Gull Harry (dressed in his round pumpkin costume which lit up too) and I arrived at the Halloween party at the Wozzy Wombat which had been decorated like the inside of witch’s house.  There was a huge cauldron in the middle of the room with some hot, green liquid smoking away and bubbling over a fire.  It smelt foul.  On the window sills, there were cardboard cut outs of black cats either sitting or standing as though on guard and there were cobwebs hanging off the ceiling.  I felt right at home in my spider costume.

My evening was going great until my arch enemy, Rotten Rory, appeared with Slimy Sim and – guess what – froglettes – he was also dressed as a spider. Well, I was mortified, how could he and I have come dressed as the same thing?  Slimy Sam was dressed as a skeleton.

When Rotten Rory saw me, he looked very annoyed and then disappeared from view.  He re-appeared a few moments later with what looked like some white cotton wool in his hands and before I knew what he was doing, he had thrown it all over me.  I wasn’t happy and Herring Gull Harry and I tried to get the white stuff off my costume but it just stuck and the more we tried to get it off, the worse it looked.

I was just about to go after Rotten Rory when Admiral Snapfish, who was judging the fancy dress costumes, walked passed us, paused and had a good look at my spider outfit and then told me I had won the fancy dress competition.  Apparently, he thought the white stuff was my cobweb and thought it a brilliant idea.

Rotten Rory’s face when he saw what he had done was one of pure anger but, then again, if he had not flung the white stuff all over me in the first place, then I would not have won.  Herring Gull Harry was runner-up with Slimy Sam third.  Rotten Rory was not placed anywhere.

It was, froglettes, a brilliant Halloween party.
