Morning,
Well, froglets, when I woke up today I had two brilliant ideas. As it was windy, the first one was to go fishing on the river and the second was to take my new worm-shaped kite to the park. My only problem was that the park is in the opposite direction to the river so I needed to make a decision.
That was until I was struck by a BRILLIANT idea. I’d go fishing with the kite tied to the back of my coracle and that way I didn’t need to make a decision.
Well, all started off well and once I’d rowed out onto the river I tied the kite to the back of my coracle and watched it dancing about on the breeze. Only, the thing was I had to row the coracle too so it was impossible to see where I was going and what the kite was doing at the same time. Before I knew it, my coracle had drifted over to the grassy bank on the current. I tried hard to row back out to the middle of the river but it was too late.
Disaster struck and the kite got tangled up with the branch of a tree. Now I was well and truly stuck. The only thing that could have made my day worse at this point was the thought of Rotten Rory and Slimy Sam rowing passed in their coracles and seeing me – Errol – tangled up with a tree!
I tried pulling the kite free but that did not work so I tried to move it with an oar but the oar was too short so I then tried hopping up onto the branch from the coracle but I couldn’t hop high enough.
So, I sat down, head in hands, and thought and thought. The thought of leaving the kite behind was unthinkable so, in the end, I untied the kite, rowed over to the bank, found a long branch and carefully put it in the coracle. I rowed back to the kite, stood up and lifted the branch up to the kite. It was heavy and I almost fell over twice but I successfully got the kite unstuck and pulled it down into the coracle. I decided to shortened the kite’s string so it did not get tangled up again with any obstacles and then I settled down to enjoy my afternoon of fishing with the kite dancing behind me.
Oh, me and my brilliant ideas ….
