The Tunnel

Well howdy,

I know, froglets, it has been a little while since I wrote the last of my posts but what can I say! Been busy sorting myself out and having fun a little and hiding from all this sun! It is so hot and frogs really are not keen on too much sunshine and heat! Roll on the rain clouds and a good thunderstorm!

I do have one story though. Last Saturday was the Marblefish fete which is a fun day with lots of different competitions including one involving tadpoles wriggling their way around an obstacle course as quickly as they can against the clock. Uncle Wilf was the referee.

My arch-enemy, Rotten Rory, turned up with his tadpole, Trigger, boasting to everyone that Trigger would easily win the competition and to start of with, Trigger was doing well swimming around and through the obstacles on the course. That was until he came to the final obstacle – the tunnel. Poor Trigger took one look at it and said, “no”. He swam around it. Rotten Rory was furious. He tried persuading Trigger to go through the tunnel – no, bribes with sweets – no, threats – still no. Rotten Rory’s face went redder and redder until he was disqualified from the competition by Uncle Wilf. No prize for him today. Rotten Rory was cross. Poor Trigger – I hate to think what his fate might have been for refusing to go through the tunnel.

My best friend, Herring Gull Harry, also took part with an enthusiastic tadpole called Rupert. He was very good and swam through the tunnel but he got a little lost swimming through the seaweed poles and, as a result, came third.

I tried persuading Uncle Wilf that Rupert was the best tadpole by far but he wound not budge. Rupert came third and Herring Gull Harry’s prize – a pile of delicious worm sandwiches which we ate with some pumpkin juice and laughed at poor Rotten Rory’s fate. Serves him right for boasting – will he ever learn?

Well, that is it for now. I am off to hide from all this sunshine under a lily leaf.

Until next time, froglets,

E
